I love people.

You know, I see all sorts of memes online about not liking people but I simply cannot relate. I love connecting with people. It can be as simple as talking about food or as deep as trauma and shit we’ve been through. I love it all. I love learning about others – what they ate, what their dreams are, what experiences have shaped them, and what they did on their weekend. (And in return I love talking!)

I haven’t always been tapped into this. When I wasn’t feeling good about myself I didn’t want to know about others. I wanted to judge them in order to try and make myself feel better. I chose gossip far too many times. My thoughts were full of judgements – mostly for myself but also for others. I wasn’t happy with how I was living my life so I judged others for their choices.

8/9 years ago when I started to learn about nutrition it was for weight loss. That’s a great reason! What I didn’t know at the time was the internal transformation that would take place. At times it feels very subtle and other times I feel like a new person.

Focusing on weight loss led to learning a lot about how to eat, which led me to learning how to treat my body and mind better. Self care became a big focus. Paying attention to my thoughts and changing them slowed those negative criticisms. Meditation allowed me to connect to myself, work through my thoughts, and let them go. (Working with a coach was fundamental for me)

It’s almost like I freed up my thoughts from obsessing over what I’m going to eat or did eat, criticizing myself and my body, and judging others. This has created space for others. It’s created space for wanting to learn more. It’s created space for wanting to share and connect with others.

I couldn’t do this from a place of self judgement. I had to put in the work of loving myself and taking care of myself. It helped me realize how much I love connecting with people and helping them. This could be a client, a customer at work, or a staff member. I’m good at that. I also love talking about nutrition and lifestyle. It’s why being a Health Coach is perfect for me!

So, let me ask you – are you taking care of yourself so that you can feel your best and live your best life? So that your true self can shine through?

It all starts with taking care of yourself 💜✌🏼
